GREATER TROCHANTERIC BURSITIS
Dull intermittent pain on the outside of the hip. The pain increases when standing or lying on the affected side
WHAT IS IT?
Irritation of the fluid-filled sac (a bursa) located between the iliotibial band and the greater trochanter (hip bone) can result in inflammation. The condition can be exasperated by activities with continual repetitive motions, where the IT band rubs over the greater trochanter creating shearing forces.
SYMPTOMS
When the bursa becomes inflamed, dull intermittent pain on the outside of the hip will develop. The pain increases when standing or lying on the affected side.
TREATMENT
Stretching of the IT band and increasing strength of the muscles that attach to the IT band are effective treatments.

Met pad support
SOLE now offers footbeds with a built-in metatarsal pad. This is an added element of forefoot support that sits under the transverse arch, the arch behind the ball of the foot that runs across the width of the foot. It lifts and separates toes, putting them back into their natural resting position, to relieve pressure and pain in the area that can be caused by issues such as Morton's neuroma and metatarsalgia. This added support also increases circulation and reduces discomfort caused by ill-fitting footwear.
